MADistrict 6 Yahoo! Group Connect with members of our District Note: MA and District 6 are not affiliated with Yahoo!, and our reference and link to it's branded site does not constitute an endorsement of its products or services on our behalf. |
About Marijuana Anonymous The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self supporting through our own contributions. MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institution or organization and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes. Our primary purpose is to stay free of marijuana and to help the marijuana addict who still suffers achieve the same freedom. We can do this by practicing our suggested twelve steps of recovery and by being guided as a group by our twelve traditions. Marijuana Anonymous uses the basic 12 Steps of Recovery founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, because it has been proven that the 12 Step Recovery program works! Our District The fellowship of Marijuana Anonymous is divided into Districts, usually based upon geography. District 6 represents much of the the northern portion of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, including the San Fernando Valley, and hosts 10 weekly meetings. This Web Site madistrict6.org is maintained by the District Service Committee (DSC) of MA District 6. It is intended as a resource for our members and focuses upon issues which concern our District. |

From the new H&I Chairperson... (G)roup (S)ervice (R)epresentatives and anyone else who is so kind and willing to spread the word if it's not heard in their homegroup: I want to get M.A.'s H&I (Hospitals & Institutions) alive and unified in L.A. This is an integral part of M.A. and the 12th step that has fallen for the most part to the wayside in recent years. Please please please, I need your help... Here is a suggested pitch during your report/announcement: "Come get the high of H&I, hospitals and institutions, where M.A. brings meetings and literature to people who can't get to meetings. Come and help carry the message of M.A. via the 12th step to addicts who do not know of us. Come to me after the meeting for more information..." If someone does come to you for more info please get their name and email or have them email me (chose Hospitals & Institutions Inquiry from the To: popup) with their name and email. You can also let them know that they will get an email once we schedule the first H&I orientation meeting. Thank you so much to everyone for being of service. I can't do this alone. – Avi H 2011 MAWS Conference Planning Committee The 2011 MAWS Conference Planning Committee will be having it's first meeting Saturday, August 14th at 12:30pm in the courtyard outside of the Saturday morning meeting location at 1125 N. McCadden Place (LAGLC - The Village at Ed Gould Plaza). This meeting will take about half an hour and will be a preliminary overview of the event and what we will need to be doing over the next few months to get started. We've chosen the Saturday Morning meeting location so that as many people from District 6 and 7 can attend. We are Co-Hosting! See you there! District Election Results Many thanks to those who volunteered and were elected for positions at the District Service Committee.

"What tricks do you use to make yourself call others when you need help?" Answers may be written and given to GSRs, or submitted online. Share your experience on a Step or Tradition... Step 9: Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Tradition 9: M.A., as such, ought never be organized, but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve. Stories, or those on any topic, may be written and given to GSRs, or submitted online. Sober birthdays may be posted in "A New Leaf" after they have occurred. GSRs and individuals in our fellowship can submit them with the number of years (and optionally the date as well) online. As always, all submissions must be received by the 17th of this month in order to be published in next issue. |
